Rittmeister Carl Bolle, last commander of Jasta Boelcke

line

Carl Bolle was born June 6, 1893 in Berlin and died on Oktober 10, 1955 in Berlin. During the Great War he flew for KG4, Kasta 23, Jasta 28 and Jasta 2 "Boelcke". From February 20, 1918 until the end on Noember 11, 1918 he was commanding officer of Jasta 2 "Boelcke".

The picture below is Fokker Dr.1 413/17 (w/n 1997) at Halluin-Ost airfield during late
spring/early Summer of 1918. The Triplane shows a black-white-yellow fuselage band.
The yellow color was representing the pilots former unit Kürassier Regiment von
Seydlitz Nr.7.
In March/April 1918 the national insignia was overpainted in-the-field to
the new Balkenkreuz configuration. The original white fields on the upper wing and fuselage
sides was reduced by overpainting it with olive. Note that Bolle's plane is fitted with the
OIGEE telescopic sight. Also the undercarriage doesn't seem to be fitted with the typical
Jasta Boelcke additional bracing struts.
